What is the difference between Xcite V2 and Xcite V3 AS2024-04-13T08:26:38+02:00

The Xcite V3 AS is significantly lighter and more agile than the Xcite V2

A more detailed list of the differences:
– V2 uses 0.1mm bladder while V3 AS uses 0.08mm bladder. This means that the bladders in V3 are 20% lighter.
– V2 uses a dacron frame around the canopy (not the inflatable frame), in V3 this is replaced by a fusion canopy framem which is 60% lighter.
– V2 uses DP 175 LL dacron while V3 AS uses Code 155P dacron which is not only 12.5% lighter but creates a more agile kite.
– The wingtip shape changed.
– The LE diameter on multiple sizes was slightly adjusted.
– The arc on all sizes is slightly adjusted.
– The AR of the small and larger sizes are slightly adjusted.
– Some construction updates in LE and struts.

Any Ventum AS uses extra reinforcements in the LE seams to maintain an optimal balance between performance and durability.

What is the difference between Xplore V3 standard and Xplore V3 Advanced Series?2024-04-26T16:14:50+02:00

The standard Xplore V3 uses DP 175 LL dacron from Germany (160 g/m2), a ‘classic’ dacron with melamine coating.
The Advanced Series uses Challenge Code 155P Dacron from the US (142g/m2), a ‘new technology’ dacron with polyurethane coating.
The AS are a bit lighter due to the lighter dacron, but the Ventum Advanced Series are not made to be light as possible!
The AS have extra reinforcements in the LE seams to maintain an optimal balance between performance and durability.

Shortly:
– The Advanced Series is more agile and a bit faster and lighter than the Standard series.
– The Standard Series has a track record of being durable.

In light winds the weight of a kite becomes of increasing importance which is why the 15m Xplore, which uses a lot of dacron, comes as Advanced Series only.

What is the difference between Xplore V2 and Xplore V32024-03-04T18:55:05+01:00

The biggest change is that the Xplore V3 (standard version) is significantly lighter than V2.
This makes the kite easier to turn and improves drift and low-end of the kite.

A more detailed list of the differences:
– V2 uses 0.1mm bladder while V3 uses 0.08mm bladder. This means that the bladders in V3 are 20% lighter.
– V2 uses a dacron frame around the canopy (not speaking about the inflatable frame here), in V3 this is replaced by a heavy canopy frame. This means that the frame around the canopy in V3 is 60% lighter.
– The AR of the small and larger sizes are slightly adjusted.
– The bridle lengths on multiple sizes are slightly adjusted.
– Some construction updates in LE and struts.

Why should I re-calibrate my bar each few months?2023-10-22T07:12:46+02:00

Flying lines (the long thin lines) dont stretch but shrink over time.
The frontlines, in general, face more load during use than the backlines and hence, the backlines shrink more than the frontlines.
This uneven length may enhance oversheeting and stall. Its adviced to check and, if needed, re-calibrate your bar each few months.
Below link shows how to adjust via the trimline, there is more than enough, but you can also adjust by applying a knot in your pigtails.

Why should I re-calibrate my bar after first use?2023-10-22T07:13:03+02:00

The depower/trim system is tensioned with 60kg in the factory to set all splices and connections in these thick strong lines.
Flying lines are added after this procedure and the bar is calibrated with 5kg load on each line.
Depending on your weight and usage, the load on the depower/trimline system may exceed the 60kg applied in manufacturing
and hence, after one or two sessions that part of the bar may stretch an additional few cm.
You can correct this increased length in the depower/trim system by shortening the trimline as shown in below pdf.

How to – Pack kites with battens2024-04-09T07:57:25+02:00

Many 3 strut kites on the market have battens to stabilize the canopy.
Packing such kites requires to keep the TE (trailing Edge) in a straight line when folding/rolling the kite.
When done correct, the kite can be folded and stored in the backpack.

Do I need to wash my kite?2023-10-22T07:14:11+02:00

No you dont need to wash your kite.

The 2 main factors degrading your kite canopy are fluttering and UV of which one is probably involved in the drying process after washing.
If you decide to wash your kite with fresh water you should let it dry before storage to avoid mildew growth.

Why is there a fee for some payment options?2023-10-22T07:15:22+02:00

Payment services like paypal and creditcard charge a fee for their service while other payment methods are free.
The fees we charge are the actual fees taken by these services, they are no profit for Ventum.

Costs always need to be covered with any purcase.
One method is to increase price of a product so all costs are averaged in the price and hence ‘free shipping’ etc can be offered.
Ventum chooses to keep the gear price ‘clean as possible’. This means people living close to the warehouse and pay by bank pay less than people living remotely and paying with creditcard.
